Are you running as fast as possible toward what matters most to you? Or are you waiting to create what you value later…some day…when the time is right?
If you aren’t doing that activity, creating that thing, fulfilling that dream, or achieving that goal you claim to value, and if you don’t have a sense of necessity and urgency driving you forward into action, then what you say or think matters doesn’t really matter to you.
How do I know?
You do the things that matter.
You make the time.
You spend the money.
You put in the effort.
You take consistent steps forward.
You feel a sense of necessity and urgency that makes you act fast.
As a result, you create what matters.
If you aren’t creating what you say matters most, it doesn’t really matter to you at all.
Tomorrow Isn’t Promised
Let’s assume what you say matters most does matter to you, but you let everything else come first. You never make what matters to you a priority.
Instead, it’s on the back burner, simmering…or going cold or burning. It will stay there until you decide to make time or determine it is the “right” or “perfect time” to take action.
Here’s the thing. Tomorrow isn’t promised to anyone. Not to you. Not to me.
And we all have just one life to live. I could argue that we have many lifetimes, but this lifetime…you’ve only got one.
With that in mind, you should be running toward what matters to you at breakneck speed.
That goes for me, too. I need to start running as fast as I can toward all the things that matter to me.
We need to start creating those things now.
Now is the right and perfect time. Why?
There may never be another time.
So, the race is on to create what matters most as quickly as possible.
Waiting Gets You Nowhere
It’s time to stop waiting for whatever circumstance you think will make it possible to create what matters.

Waiting gets you nowhere. It doesn’t move you forward into the future you desire, one filled with all the things you say you value. It just keeps you stuck where you are—sans what you say matters most.
And yet, you keep waiting. Procrastinating. Avoiding taking action.
But you already realize you will never have perfect conditions or circumstances…unless you create them.
And you can decide that your imperfect conditions and circumstances are the perfect time…or reason…to create what matters to you.
Indeed, they are a good reason to step into your personal power and freedom and start creating.
Create despite anything in your life you have previously believed stops you from doing so.
Create what matters when life seems crazy..
Create what matters no matter what.
Avoid Regrets
If you don’t create what matters now, you’ll regret it later. At the end of your life…this life, you will bemoan not having created the things that matter most to you.
Your soul has been pushing you to create these things. That’s why you value them. They are what you are meant to create during this lifetime.
At some point, you will feel disappointed in yourself because you didn’t pursue the things that truly matter. You know you are meant for more, and, at a deep (soul) level, you want to fulfill your potential and your purpose.
You know that won’t happen if you don’t start taking action toward creating what matters to you.
Begin listening to your soul’s guidance. Trust it enough to act upon it.
Now is the time to pay attention and run toward whatever inspires you. Run toward what you feel passionate about or what you intuitively know you are meant to do.
These are the things your soul is guiding you toward.
You know you will regret not bringing into the world the things only you can create.
Build Stamina
Your inaction may have made you feel unable or ill-prepared to sprint toward what matters most to you. It may seem that you aren’t in condition to run a short distance, let alone make it across the finish line.
That’s okay. You can still begin your race toward creating what matters most.
Just like a marathon runner who has to work up to running a long distance, begin taking baby steps that get you in shape for the race toward what you desire. Any small action that moves you toward creating what you value helps ready you for larger ones.
Today, do one thing that moves you toward your goal. Tomorrow, do another—or repeat the same one, if that is what is necessary. You’ll get stronger and faster if you keep this up.
After a few days (or a week), do two things. Then, the next week, do three. Notice that it’s not as hard anymore, and you aren’t as tired. Plus, you are making progress more quickly than before.
Now you are ready to take a larger action. After that, try the same action but complete it faster.
Before long, you will be running toward what matters most to you. The finish line will come into sight, and you’ll cross it.
You’ll have built your endurance, created what matters, and have no regrets.
Don’t Worry About Failure
Many people don’t start moving toward what matters to them because they fear failure. You know the adage: “It’s better to have tried and failed than to never have tried at all.”
If you attempt to create what matters most to you and don’t succeed, that isn’t failure at all. It’s you doing your best. Keep trying, and your best becomes better.
Plus, you learn lessons along the way. After all, failure is just a lesson in what you need to do next to succeed. It’s how you learn what works and what doesn’t.
So, try again. Figure out what works. In the end, you will find you have created what matters.
In any case, you won’t regret not trying at all. If you don’t try, you will regret that fact.
Raise Your Necessity Level
If you still feel as if you aren’t committed to creating what matters. If you kinda sorta want to take action to bring the things you value into your life and the world, but you still feel like the timing—or something else—is off, raise your level of necessity.
When you feel a strong “need” to do something, you do it.
You know this is true.
Think of all the times you dropped everything to handle an emergency. How much of your life is spent “putting out fires”? How often have you put aside what was important to you to deal with someone’s pressing issue?
That’s necessity.
Now apply that same sense that you must focus your attention, energy, and action on a pressing issue to what matters most to you. Imagine it is an emergency…that is a fire you must put out now.
With that increased sense of necessity, you will take action.
And when there is a time crunch, that adds urgency.
The fact that you only have this lifetime to create what matters to you should create a higher level of urgency. You can’t predict how long your life will be.
The fact that tomorrow isn’t promised—that you might not be here in 24 hours, six months, or a year—provides a powerful reason to run toward what matters. Feel that necessity and urgency pushing you to act now.
Then start running.
