Your Desire Was Delivered But You Want to Exchange It

Why you receive desires you don't think you asked for

Sometimes you voice a desire, but when it is delivered, you want to exchange or return it. Or you want to reject the fulfilled desire, because it arrived at what you deem an “inopportune” time.

And then there are instances when you don’t realize you’ve voiced a desire, and yet it is delivered to your doorstep. You then judge the fulfillment of your desire negatively, say you didn’t ask for it, and wish you could exchange it or send it back.

In all these scenarios, you received your desire because you asked for it to be fulfilled. You may have asked for it consciously and intentionally or subconsciously and unintentionally.

But you asked for it on some level.

A Desire You Want to Exchange

It’s common to ask for something and then not like how it shows up. That’s when you claim to want to return it or ask for an exchange.

I’ve often seen this happen when someone dislikes their job. For example, if you wish to leave your job and find one you like better, you might say so in a variety of ways. You might state, “I hate my job. I wish I could leave,” or “I really wish I didn’t have to work at this place anymore. I’d love to find a job I like better.”

And then, when your boss calls you into her office and fires you, you are surprised and upset. You want to exchange that fulfilled desire.

In fact, you don’t see it as a fulfilled desire. After all, you didn’t ask to be fired. You asked to work elsewhere, not for a period of unemployment.

Yet, your desire was fulfilled. You no longer work at a job you dislike. And you have the opportunity to find a job you like better.

You might even discover that at the very moment when you were fired, a perfect career opportunity has opened up for which you can apply.

A Desire That Comes at an Inopportune Time

It’s also common to voice a desire and have it arrive at what you might call an “inopportune” time. In other words, it comes at what you interpret as the “wrong time”—faster or slower than expected or desired.

For example, you want to sell your home. However, to do so, you need to declutter—big time. And you need to find a new place to purchase.

You have not taken either of the latter two actions. You did list your house for sale, though.

Then, you get an offer on your house. You believe it’s a fair one, but you say, “The offer came too early,” or “I’m not ready to move yet, so I can’t sell my house.”

Yet, accepting the offer on your house might give you the push you need to complete your house hunting and put an offer in on one you like. And selling and buying now, rather than later, might force you to finally do what you have said you wanted to do for so long—get rid of some of the things you don’t need and get organized.

Your Soul Fills Desires for Your Highest Good

It’s also possible your soul or spiritual nature has brought you a “gift” in the form of a desire fulfilled. Even though you don’t like the gift, believe it doesn’t serve you as well as you’d like, or feel it came at the wrong time, it was given to you for your growth.

It’s a soul-level desire fulfilled so you can fulfill your potential. It’s a gift from your higher self for your highest good.

Sometimes, the gift shows up as a way to help you resolve a problem, even if you aren’t totally aware that there is an issue. Subconsciously, you know you need to make a change, but you haven’t done so. Therefore, a new circumstance or situation arises that forces you to do something different and create change.

Pushed to Solve a Problem

For instance, you may be living in a rental property with many issues. You inform the landlord about them and request reimbursement for the expenses the problems have caused you.

The landlord ignores your request for financial compensation, agrees to fix the problems, and suggests that you might want to move out, as you no longer seem to like living there.

Now you face a decision—move out or stay. But the landlord’s lack of response to your request for reimbursement makes you angry. So you decide to give 30 days’ notice, especially since some of the ongoing issues make the house unsafe and unpleasant to live in.

However, you don’t really want to move to a new rental. You actually like the one you have rented, but the problems are stressful. Now you don’t feel like you are on good terms with the landlord, and you don’t want to wait for the issues to be resolved.

The situation requires that you rush to find a new place to rent and relocate. This is also stressful and overwhelming and makes you unhappy.

How can this circumstance represent a desire fulfilled? When you contacted the landlord, you wanted to remove the financial stress of living in the house. However, you knew you eventually would need to move out, since the rental was a bit too expensive for your budget—especially given the problems. You had been fed up for months with never having money to even fully furnish the rental.

Additionally, the constant issues, such as pipes bursting, air conditioning not working, and even rodents, made it difficult for you to live in the house without stress and upset. You knew the mental and emotional toll was impacting your state of mind and, therefore, your work and life in general.

So, on some level, you asked for a reason to move out. And your desire was fulfilled by the landlord’s unwillingness to reimburse your expenses and suggestion that maybe you should consider moving out.

A Universal Push

Sometimes our desires are fulfilled in uncomfortable or challenging ways because the Universe—or God/Source/Creator—or spiritual guidance knows what you need to grow or to take new action. This happens when we are unwilling to change.

The Universe then provides a new circumstance. It creates a situation that forces you to take new action and change.

This is a “Universal push” that gets you moving in a direction that is for your highest good—even if you don’t realize it at the time.

In retrospect, you see this. In the moment, you don’t understand how you could have wanted the situation. You see it as a negative and something you would never desire.

Your soul desired it for you, though.

No Exchanges, Returns, or Refunds

When your desire is delivered, you can’t exchange, return, or refund it. You must receive and accept it.

Then, you can respond to it.

Your choice about how to respond allows you to understand why you had this desire and how its fulfillment serves your highest good. Then you can decide how to craft a new desire and fulfill that.
