Four-World's Approach to Yom Ha'Atzmaut

Jews in Israel and around the world will celebrate Israel’s Independence Day, Yom Ha’Atzmaut, this coming Wednesday. April 29. I once wrote an essay on how to make this holiday not just a secular observance but a spiritual one – a subject right up my alley. It was published in Sh’ma‘s bi-annual anthology published (Living Words V, A Source Book on Israel In a Time of Struggle, © 2003, JFL Books). I can’t reprint the whole essay here, but I can direct you to my San Jose Jewish Examiner column, which gives you the gist of what I suggested. It’s a four-worlds approach, and you can read about it here.

Happy Birthday, Israel!

[Note: I am now the San Jose Jewish Examiner. So, please check out my column there. I add a post a minimum of four times a week. You can subscribe or just read the column when you feel like it.]
