It’s easy to get so busy that you don’t make time to connect with the essence of life. You can call this God, Source, The Universe, Higher Self, Shechinah, Krishna, Buddah, Christ, or something else entirely. The name doesn’t matter, but your connection to the divine or sacred part of life does matter.
We are spiritual beings having a human experience not human beings having a spiritual experience. When we connect with Divine Source, we remember who we are. It feels like coming home.
At this particular juncture in my life, I easily could decide spiritual practices or observances take too much time. Yet, it’s when we feel overwhelmed, challenged and in need of comfort that prayer and spiritual practices help us most.
Today I will spend most of the day in the synagogue for Rosh Hashanah, Jewish New Year, services. I don’t feel I have time. Because I’ve been away for 20 days caring for my elderly mother, I am behind on work. Plus, after being away from home, I would rather be at home than out of the house all day.
I will go observe the holiday, though. I know the time spent connecting with God will bolster my spirits and spending my time in spiritual community will comfort me. Additionally, doing so will remind me that I possess a spark of God—my soul. This Divine creative energy is connected to Source always and allows me to call on the power of Source at any time.
You can spend just ten minutes a day in prayer or reading spiritual texts. Doing so will provide the reminder you need that there is more to life than what you see and touch. It will connect you with the Still Small Voice. It will help you feel your connection to the Divine and to see the sacredness in even the mundane aspects of daily life.
Do you have a short spiritual practice or a regular spiritual practice that helps you feel connected to the Divine Source? Tell me about it in a comment below.
