Chaos. It is everywhere right now. Look at the world… There are wars, demonstrations, unrest, shootings, heat waves, and natural disasters, to name a few current chaotic situations.
Many people also are experiencing life circumstances that feel chaotic, overwhelming, and challenging. Maybe you relate. You’ve got too much going on in your life, are being asked to stretch farther than feels possible, and new must-handle situations continually arise.
Add personal chaos to world chaos, and you struggle to remain hopeful. You no longer have faith that things will work out. You feel stressed, distracted, overwhelmed, and burned out.
On top of that, humanity is in the early stages of a spiritual awakening and consciousness shift. Many people complain of dizziness, lack of energy, confusion, inability to focus or think clearly, and general lethargy. The global and personal chaos may be due to this shift.
Despite this chaos, we must find ways to move forward. We must do our best to deal with our personal circumstances and improve ourselves, our lives, and the world. We want to continue striving to create what matters to us.
Yet, you can only create change—even a less chaotic life—from a high vibratory place. Your energy must match the transformation you desire. And energy is something you can control.
Therefore, one of the most effective ways to move through chaos involves [raising your energy](https://ninaamir.com/create-inspired-results-got-energy/]. When you shift your energy into high gear, you gain a greater ability to change your circumstances. You feel better physically, emotionally, and mentally, making it easier to take action and deal with what’s on your plate.
How to Generate Energy When You Have None
But what if you feel tapped out, overwhelmed, depressed, and exhausted? What if you think you can’t take your mind off the chaos in your life and the world and don’t have the time, focus, or energy to change your energetic state?
You can generate energy even when your energy is depleted. It’s possible. In fact, it’s necessary if you want to feel more energetic, improve your circumstances, and cope with chaos.
Generating energy when your “tank is empty” requires action. After all, if your car ran out of gas, you’d have to go find gas and put it in your car, right? It’s the same with your energy. You must do something to get moving again.
Start small, but start. Action begets more action.
I get it. You believe there is no way to fit anything else into your schedule, and you are just too low energy to do one more thing. Yet, you are capable of more than you think. In fact, what you believe is what becomes possible. So, believe it is possible to do one more thing that shifts your energy for the better.
Try one or more of these 10 quick, energy-raising tools.
1. Sleep more.
Sleeping more sounds simple but requires some scheduling and time. Most people don’t sleep enough; you need seven or eight hours to operate optimally. Your energy level is dependent on rest. Beyond the physical need for sleep, a good night’s sleep always makes you feel better emotionally and mentally.
Drop the excuse: “I don’t have time to sleep more.” Go to bed 15 minutes earlier and wake up 15 minutes later. That’s just half an hour, but even those 30 minutes will make you feel less exhausted. Then, add another five or ten minutes to your sleep routine. Before long, you’ll have tacked on at least an hour.
Also, add in a power nap. An extra 20–30 minutes of sleep during the day generates energy for the remainder of the day.
2. Meditate.
If you can’t sleep enough at night, a brief meditation during the day can help generate energy. It’s not the same as sleep, but it will help you feel more rested and calm. Reducing stress increases your energy level.
Again, if your self-talk says, “I don’t have time to meditate,” start small. Meditate for five minutes; then try 10 or 15 minutes. If you can make time for 15 minutes of meditation daily, you’ll feel more energized—and calmer. Meditation gives your nervous system a reprieve, which allows more energy for other things.
Just focus on your breath. That’s it. Or say “release” whenever thoughts about chaos arise. Acknowledge them, and gently bring your focus back to your breath.
3. Move your body.
For most people, exercise is the first activity that falls by the wayside when life gets chaotic. But that’s precisely when you need to move your body consistently.
Exercise generates energy. Moving your body boosts your mood and your mental clarity.
If you can’t find the time for a full workout, walk, dance to a song you like, take the stairs, or do gentle stretches while you watch television. Just ten minutes of movement can significantly increase your energy level.
4. Breathe.
Most of us don’t breathe deeply enough. Deep breathing provides the oxygen required for your body and brain. Plus, conscious breathing relaxes your nervous system and reduces stress.
Deep breathing takes very little time. Set an alarm at the top of each hour. Use this as a reminder to take a few deep abdominal breaths. (Your abdomen—not chest—should extend.)
You can also practice Andrew Weil’s 4–7–8 breathing method to slow down your nervous system and relax. Inhale through the nose for four counts, hold for seven, then exhale through the mouth for eight.
You’ll be amazed at how much energy you can generate by simply breathing deeply. And you’ll be more able to tackle the chaos as a result.
5. Connect.
Connect with other people every day. Don’t spend too much time alone focused on your challenges or the news. Instead, connect with people who uplift you—not those who complain incessantly about the world situation or their circumstances.
Spending time with positive people who raise you up—and, as a result, increase your energy—makes it easier to face chaos. Find growth friends who encourage you to change in positive ways; this will give you the fuel to take action.
And remember, sometimes just sharing a laugh or a kind word can lift your spirits and your energetic state.
6. Have a passion project.
Passion makes you feel alive. Find something you feel passionate about and engage in it.
Develop a passion project, such as a hobby or side hustle, and spend time doing what you love, including music, art, writing, animals, sports, or dancing.
Do things that “float your boat.” Just a few minutes per day immersed in something you feel passionate about boosts your mood. And don’t feel guilty for taking time to do something that makes you feel good. Your good vibe will positively impact those around you as well.
7. Get grounded.
The human body wasn’t meant to be in buildings or shoes all day. Most of us are disconnected from nature and, therefore, feel ungrounded. So, ground!
Stabilize your energy by putting your bare feet in the grass, sand, or dirt. Or, put your hands in the dirt. Hug a tree. Go swimming in a lake or the ocean and take a moment to stand in the water.
Connecting with nature in this way stabilizes your energy, so it isn’t chaotic and draining. Even one moment of grounding can reset your physical, mental, and emotional balance.
When life gets chaotic, that state makes you feel disconnected, distracted, and uncentered. When you let the Earth’s energy come into your body through your feet, your energy shifts, and these conditions disappear.
8. Tune into spiritual guidance.
It’s easy to feel pessimistic and afraid if you aren’t tuned into spiritual guidance or “Something Bigger.” Connecting with the spiritual side of life helps you remember all is well. Everything is happening for the highest good of all…even the chaos.
You no longer feel alone when you access your connection to Source, God, Creator (or whatever you call this force). You know you are connected to everyone and everything.
Access to Source helps you feel supported by the knowledge that the Universe has your back. Tapping into the eternal part of yourself or God allows you to drop fear and live in the moment.
Pray, read spiritual texts, attend a spiritual or religious service, and listen to your soul speaking to you through intuition and inspiration. Your energy will rise as a result.
9. Take action.
If you don’t like your circumstances or what is happening in the world, exercise your personal power and freedom. Do something to change your circumstances. Take action for yourself and the betterment of all.
Taking action immediately raises your vibration. You feel better emotionally and are energized physically and mentally by the simple fact that you did something to change the situation.
Taking action creates a sense of control and trust that you can improve things. Action breaks the cycle of feeling stuck and energizes you to continue moving forward.
10. Trust.
People talk about having “hope” for the future. Instead, trust in a better future.
Hope implies doubt; you don’t want to doubt that the world or your life will get less chaotic. This lowers your energy.
Instead, trust that the Universe has your back, you are being guided, and everything is happening for the highest good of all. I realize it may not look that way, but trust that it is. After all, you have nothing to lose and so much to gain by trusting that all is well.
Believing that things are unfolding for your highest good provides peace and reduces doubt. Trust lets you take a deep breath, relax, and “let God.” It enables you to sleep without stress, worry, and fear. Trusting creates calm, which, in turn, uplifts your energy.
11. Feel grateful.
Cultivate an “attitude of gratitude.” Stop focusing on the chaos; instead, place your attention on the good in your life and the world.
Gratitude is the highest energy state possible. It’s the strongest prayer you can offer.
When you feel grateful, you’re less disturbed by the chaos. You can even feel thankful for the chaos because peace is on the other side.
Consider gratitude a state of consciousness you can choose. Make that shift, and you’ll find it easier to deal with anything. You’ll find something to appreciate and feel thankful for no matter what.
An Energetic Ripple Effect
These 11 energy-raising tools can be used by almost anyone in almost any situation. They take little time, skill, or energy.
Yet, each exercise has the potential to increase your energy. And each small bump in your energetic state or vibrational level makes it easier to cope with chaos—or even reduce it. In fact, as you take control of your energy, chaos impacts you less often.
Not only that, your increased energy ripples out and impacts others. Then, they are less affected by the chaos, their energy is increased, and they impact those in their circle of influence.
What would become possible for you if you made these energy exercises part of your daily routine?
