How To Recreate Your Life

You are a creator. You can recreate your life.

If you don’t like your life, no problem. You created it, which means you can recreate it.

You are a creator. You create constantly with your thoughts and actions.

If you don’t like what you have created—your job, financial status, relationship, health, or living situation, create a new one you like better.

You are a Creator

The idea that you create your life or reality might seem woo-woo or New Agey. However, almost every spiritual or esoteric tradition and religion teaches this concept in some manner.

Human beings are part and parcel of the Divine Creator (or God, if you prefer that term). Our souls are sparks or particles of the Divine residing inside our physical bodies. Therefore, you and I are creators—even when we create what we don’t want.

No New Age Guilt or Blame

And we often miscreate or countercreate. We do this unknowingly, sometimes even subconsciously. Then we wonder how we could have created something we didn’t want or don’t like, including our life circumstances.

That doesn’t mean you should beat yourself up with negative self-talk for creating your current, disliked life. You aren’t to “blame” for your circumstances.

You do need to take responsibility for your current life situation, though. From that place of responsibility, you can begin creating your life anew.

There’s a difference between blame and responsibility. Blame focuses on fault and assigning responsibility (pointing a finger) for a negative outcome. Responsibility, on the other hand, is about acknowledging one’s role in a situation and taking ownership of the outcome, regardless of fault.

When you take responsibility, you have an opportunity to grow and change. Plus, responsibility places you in a position of power and freedom. Only from that position can you create what matters to you.

Once you become aware that you are a creator, a concept I share with members of the Inspired Creator Community, you can begin creating what you desire. And that includes recreating your life as one you want and enjoy.

First, you must understand and acknowledge that you are creating what you experience with each thought and action. Then, you can create something different by thinking and acting differently.

Adopt a New Identity

You may believe changing your mindset and habits is hard or takes a long time. But I have done this overnight. And the members of the Inspired Creator Community also have achieved these types of changes quickly.

To change your mindset—your thoughts and beliefs—and your habits—your rote behaviors—you need only change your identity. Choose to “be” someone who has the mindset and habits you desire or need to change your life.

As soon as you decide to be someone who can change your life—or, even better, be someone who already has changed your life—your thoughts and actions align with your new identity. The shift happens as soon as you commit fully to your decision.

Why do I say “someone who already has changed your life”? Because you don’t want to wait to become that person. You want to be that person right now.

Then, your thoughts and actions change quickly…in the moment you make the decision. And you become someone who has—and can—change your life.

When you align with the identity of someone who has already done what you desire—change your life—you think like them. You act like them. Their mindset and habits are what helped them change their life. Now that you possess the same mindset and habits, you can do the same.

Find an Example

Who do you know who has changed their life for the better? Who do you know that has a life similar to the one you want to live?

Once you’ve identified a good example of someone who has created the life you desire—or even the change you want to make in one life arena, list this person’s most outstanding characteristics. For instance, are they courageous, committed, outspoken, tenacious, or focused? Are they a problem solver, a leader, a good listener, or a visionary?

Choose the top one to three characteristics you believe would move the needle most in your efforts to change your life. In other words, what characteristic(s) would help you recreate your life?

Decide to Be that Person

Next, decide to be that person.

Decide to be a leader.

Decide to be a good listener.

Decide to be courageous.

Take on that identity.

Ask yourself, “What does a person with this identity think? What do they focus upon? What do they believe?”

Adopt that mindset.

Also, ask yourself, “How does a person with this identity behave? What habits do they have? How do they respond in different situations?”

Adopt those behaviors.

No Need to Wait

You don’t need to wait to be this person until you have changed your life. In fact, that’s a broken strategy.

You know that, because you’ve likely been waiting to have something—more money, time, courage, energy, or clarity—or be someone with those things or characteristics—to begin the process of changing your life.

Where has the waiting gotten you?

You still have the same life you don’t like. It’s even possible your circumstances have worsened and you have become unhappier.

You realize already that waiting to have something—including the identity of someone who has the life you desire—doesn’t work.

What does work is to stop waiting. Be that person now.

That’s when you can create change.

The Ultimate Identity

The ultimate identity is that of a creator. When you stand in the knowledge that you created your life—even if you don’t like it—you realize you can create a new life more to your liking. If you can create one thing—like it or not—you can create something else.

Then, choose an identity that helps you create the life of your dreams. Then you “have” all you need to recreate your life.
